Information is available on the test website, www.cals.ncsu.edu/an_sci/ extension/animal/bcip/Ahbcip.html. z Tifton Bull Evaluation Program Tifton Bull Evaluation Center, Tifton, Ga. 28-day report (Nov. 18, 2014) The 57th Tifton Bull Evaluation Program began Sept. 29-30 with the delivery of 144 bulls representing nine different breeds and averaging 781 lb. Performance has been excellent, and the health of the bulls has been good, says Jacob Segers, extension animal scientist. The 112-day test features bulls born Dec. 1, 2012-Feb. 28, 2013. All bulls tested negative for persistent infection with bovine viral diarrhea (PI-BVD). Going on test Oct. 21, the 71 Angus bulls averaged 879 lb. for a weight per day of age (WDA) of 3.13 lb., while all 143 bulls averaged 867 lb. with a WDA of 3.05 lb. Interim weights will be collected Dec. 16 and Jan. 15, 2015, and final weights are scheduled for collection Feb. 9-10. Qualifying bulls may sell in the test sale March 4. High-ADG Angus—Lot 69; owner: Four Mile Farm, James Holman, Blakely, Ga.; sire: Meldon's Upward 491; ADG: 6.18 lb.; ADG ratio: 146; WDA: 2.91 lb.; WDA ratio: 90; wt.: 986 lb. Purebred breeders from four states consigned bulls (South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia). There are 32 senior Angus bulls and seven junior Angus bulls on test. Matthew Burns, extension animal scientist and Clemson Bull Test coordinator, says the weather has been much colder. He says the health of the bulls has been excellent. The bulls were weighed on test Aug. 21-22 following a 14-day warm-up period. Off-test weights were to be taken Dec. 11. High-ADG senior Angus—Lot 32; owner: Williams Angus, George Williams, Gray, Tenn.; sire: GAR Prophet; ADG: 5.77 lb.; ADG ratio: 139; WDA: 3.71 lb.; WDA ratio: 115; wt.: 1,620 lb. This year's test includes bulls consigned by 14 breeders. The 113 bulls on test have a 28-day overall average daily gain (ADG) of 3.78 lb. and a WDA of 3.00 lb. The top pen of bulls in the junior division had an average ADG of 5.21 lb. with a WDA of 3.04 lb. and are consigned by Terry Brink, Frederick, Okla. The top junior bull with an ADG of 5.86 lb. and a WDA of 3.14 lb. is in this pen. The next weigh day was scheduled for Dec. 6.
