On-test report (Oct. 28) The junior and senior tests at the Southwest Virginia Beef Cattle Improvement Association (BCIA) Bull Test will be conducted simultaneously. Senior bulls must have been born Sept. 1-Dec. 31, 2013. Junior bulls must have been born Jan. 1-March 31, 2014. Entries for both divisions were due Sept. 5. Delivery was accepted Oct. 7 at Hillwinds Farm. A total of 84 senior bulls and 104 junior bulls went on test Oct. 28. The senior Angus bulls began the test with an average weight of 1,042 lb. and an average WDA of 2.80 lb. The junior Angus bulls weighed on test with an average weight of 723 lb. and an average WDA of 2.82 lb. Interim weights were scheduled for collection Dec. 13, 2014, and Jan. 20, 2015. The bulls will be weighed off test with an average of weights collected Feb. 16 and 17. The test sale will be at the farm March 28. On-test report (Nov. 14, 2014) The 51st Manitoba Beef Cattle Performance Association Bull & Heifer Development Test accepted delivery Oct. 14-17, 2014, at the Douglas Bull Test Station in Carberry, Man., Canada. Consignors must be members of the Manitoba Beef Cattle Association, and bulls must have been born April 1-June 30, 2014, to be eligible for the 112-day test. A total of 148 bulls were weighed on test Nov. 14, including three Blonde D'Aquitaine, nine Limousin, three Salers, four Charolais, 84 Angus*, 25 Simmental, three Maine Anjou and 17 Shorthorn. The average on-test WDA for all bulls was 3.21 lb. The bulls will be weighed off test March 4-5, 2015, with the sale scheduled for April 4. On-test group 1 & 2 reports (Oct. 9 and Nov. 4, 2014) The Midland Bull test is a 120-day gain test with a 70-day efficiency test. Bulls are fed a 44-Mcal diet that is high in roughage for targeted gains of about 3 lb. per day. Group 1 bulls were received Sept. 13-24, 2014. Group 2 bulls were received Oct. 8-18, 2014. The Angus sale is scheduled for April 3, 2015. For more information contact Steve and Lindsay Williams at 406-322-5597 (office); fax: 406-322-5210; email: bulls@ midlandbulltest.com or visit the test website at www.midlandbulltest.com. z ICA Bull Evaluation Program Guthrie Center and Cedar Rapids, Iowa Delivery and on-test reports (Oct. 27 and Oct. 28, 2014 ) Bulls were delivered to the Bloomfield and Dunlap test stations for the Iowa Cattlemen's Association (ICA) 2015 Bull Evaluation Program, with spring-born bulls at the test station at the Van Meter Feedyard in Guthrie Center, Iowa, and fall-born bulls at the test station at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Bloomfield test has 30 Angus bulls, the Dunlap test has 17 Angus spring-born bulls, and there are 14 Angus fall-born bulls at Kirkwood. There were 37 spring-born Angus bulls delivered for the Tama test at the Van Meter Feedyard. The bulls were to complete a 21-day warm-up period following their respective delivery dates. Bulls are to be weighed twice going on test. The first two weights will be averaged and will mark the start of the 112- day test. The top three-quarters of each breed meeting test requirements will be offered for sale. Both spring and fall Bloomfield bulls will be sold March 16, 2015, at the Bloomfield Livestock Auction Market. Spring bulls will be sold at the Dunlap Livestock Auction Market March 27. The Tama bulls will be sold May 1, 2015. Entry deadline was Sept. 17, with a delivery date of Oct. 4. Interim weights are scheduled for Dec. 13 and Jan. 10, 2015, with off-test weights to be taken Feb. 7 and 9. The test sale will be March 6, 2015.
