Hillside Angus Farm will also be nominated by the Alabama BCIA for the national Beef Improvement Federation (BIF) 2017 Outstanding Seedstock Producer of the Year. Ron Hinrichsen has been named director of beef sales and marketing for the Genex beef team. In this role, Hinrichsen will lead the beef sales and service team in providing cattle producers across the United States with science-based beef genetics and chuteside reproductive service. Hinrichsen is a graduate of Kansas State University (K-State) with a degree in animal science and business. He previously held sales positions with animal health and nutrition companies. Hinrichsen has been a member of the American Angus Association since 1990. He is also a member of the Kansas Angus Association, the American Simmental Association, the National Cattlemen's Beef Association and the Kansas Livestock Association. David Sibbald, president of the Canadian Angus Association (CAA), has become the president and chairman of the board of the Calgary Stampede. He will continue in his role as president of the CAA until the conclusion of the annual general meeting in June. He will serve as Calgary Stampede president until 2019. He, wife Mary Beth, and sons Dylan and Adam operate SSS Red Angus. They also maintain a commercial cow-calf operation complemented by their seedstock herd bulls. David is a fifth-generation rancher from a pioneering family on the Sibbald Flats in the Jumping Pound area west of Calgary. He has judged several Canadian national shows, along with numerous 4-H shows in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan, and is a proven noted industry and organizational leader, planner and thinker. David was elected to the CAA board in 2013 and the Calgary Stampede board in 2009. "I am proud and humbled to be leading two of the largest organizations in Canada," says Sibbald. Hillside Angus Farm, owned and managed by Dale and Judy Parris, is a registered Angus seedstock operation in the Sand Mountain region of Alabama near Albertville. Hillside Angus Farm began in 1992 and quickly became active in the American Angus Association and the Alabama Angus Association. Performance recordkeeping through the Angus Herd Improvement Records (AHIR®) program began in 1986. Through dedication to genetic improvement and diligent recordkeeping for the past 30 years, performance of their herd has progressively advanced. A long-term goal of Hillside Angus Farm is to further genetic improvement utilizing all available genetic selection tools. Dale Parris serves in many leadership roles within the cattle industry. He is a past president of both the Alabama Angus Association and the Marshall County Cattlemen's Association and is still in active leadership. Judy Parris is an active leader in the Alabama Angus Auxiliary.
